Psychology Law IRR effective January 8, 2013

Manila, January 2013 – Beginning January 8, 2013, the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No.10029, known as the “Psychology Act of 2009”, will be enforced, according to the Professional Regulatory Board of Psychology.

The IRR issued by the Board of Psychology under Resolution No.3 dated November 28, 2012 was published last December 25, 2012 in the Official Gazette.

The rules and regulations implement R.A. No. 10029 which regulates the practice of psychology and psychometrics in the Philippines to nurture competent, upright and assiduous psychologists whose standards of professional practice are excellent and globally competitive and to protect the public from inexperienced or untrained individuals offering psychological services.

Those found violating the provisions of R.A. No. 10029 or the IRR may be meted imprisonment of not less than six months but not more than three years or a fine of not less than ten thousand pesos (PhP10,000.00) but not more than one hundred thousand pesos (PhP100,000.00).
