First Face-to-Face Mass Oath Taking Ceremony for New Licensed Professional Teachers in Cagayan Region

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan– A total of 4,564 passers of the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) held last Oct. 2, 2022 officially took their oath as Licensed Professional Teachers last January 21, 2023, at the Cagayan State University Andrews Campus Gym, Caritan Centro, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

This was the first face-to-face mass oath-taking ceremony held in the region since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic which was previously conducted virtually via online platforms.

Among those who took their oaths was Mr. John Paul Baloloy Maggay from Isabela State University, and Ms. Ira Jean Signabon Saga-oc from Saint Louis College-Tabuk City who ranked 9th and 10th in the LEPT for elementary level, respectively.

The topnotchers were recognized for their outstanding achievements during the ceremony, including two (2) Persons with Disability (PWD) who hurdled the exams despite their condition.

PRC Regional Office II has served a total of 4,564 passers wherein 2,886 took the licensure examination in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan and 1,678 took it in Cauayan City, Isabela.

Attending the said ceremony are PRC’s Professional Regulatory Board of Professional Teachers (PRB-PTR) Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Paz I. Lucido, PRB-PTR’s Member, Hon. Paraluman R. Giron, officials of the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE), and officers and staff of PRC Regional Office II, headed by Regional Director Rodrigo F. Balaqui, Jr.

Director Balaqui welcomed the oath-takers in the “historic” event and congratulated them for their “accomplishments in the face of various challenges”, among them the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hon. Lucido solemnized the oath-taking ceremony and welcomed the oath-takers to the noble profession and their inclusion into the Roll of Licensed Professional Teachers (LPTs). She emphasized the duty of teachers in molding the next generation and preparing them for the future.

Closing the ceremony, Hon. Giron reminded the newly inducted teachers of their responsibility in society and prompted them to express their gratitude to all who have helped them in their journey to become LPTs including their family, friends, teachers, and most importantly the Almighty.
